Sometimes the smallest shift can spark the biggest glow.
Three years ago, we renovated our kitchen. It was a beautiful transformation… mostly. For some reason, maybe budget, maybe oversight, we never thought to update the lighting.
A few weeks ago, we finally bought a new light.
And wow! What a difference it made. The space feels warmer, more welcoming, and suddenly we’re cooking and chatting and gathering in a place that feels alive. You could say it’s been… illuminating.
But here’s the real twist:
That one simple update got me thinking—where else in my life have I been sitting in the dark?
What had become “good enough” or “fine for now,” when a small change could shift things for the better?
So I started “switching on the light” in other areas too:
I repotted a sad-looking plant.
Cleared out a cluttered wardrobe.
Adjusted my morning routine to work better for me.
And just like the kitchen, each of those small shifts sparked something deeper—joy, clarity, energy, even a renewed sense of control.
We often wait for the big transformations—new jobs, new goals, new seasons of life. But change doesn’t always arrive with a bang. Sometimes, the opportunity for change is hovering, just outside your realm of awareness, waiting for you to discover it is there—just as I did, through “switching on the light”.
THIS WEEK’S REFLECTION ACTIVITY:
Where in your life could a little more light—or attention—make a big difference?
Is there something small you’ve been overlooking that could shift the way you feel, think, or show up?
Try This: One Small Shift
Choose one small space—physical or personal—and give it a little TLC:
Rehome a neglected plant
Clear a drawer or digital folder
Reclaim five minutes of your morning just for you
You might be surprised what starts to shine through.
Let the light in. Even just a little. 💡
